Be Part of the Best
In 2004 Gurit (a subsidiary of Gurit Heberlein)*
was acknowledged by three independent business
institutions for its progressive and dynamic
approach to business. Gurit’s ability to
promote sustainable business practices in a
manufacturing environment, the development and
application of innovative technologies, and
involvement in the local community were some
of the reasons cited for its success in these
UK regional and national awards.
* At the beginning of 2006
the Gurit Heberlein group of companies (Gurit,
IMS, Stesalit and Gurit Suprem) re-organised
and, as part of the integration of Gurit's composite
operations, a new organisational structure was
announced. Under this structure all companies
within the group became known as Gurit to form
one global organisation.

Training & Development
Continued learning is encouraged across all
of Gurit to ensure that we all have the necessary
skills to perform our jobs to the best of our
abilities both today, and in the future as the
company changes and grows.
The UK Graduate Scheme looks to recruit individuals
who have not only excelled academically with
technical capabilities, but who also have the
personal behavioural attributes needed to achieve
excellence and therefore have significant strategic
value to the organisation.
All Graduate newcomers are assigned a mentor
to help encourage their development; we really
believe in sharing ideas and knowledge and providing
the opportunity for all employees to continue
their professional development. Mentors work
closely with our graduates and spend time coaching
them and developing their understanding of our
businesses, markets and products. Regular reviews
and performance appraisals take place for all
employees to ensure we can provide on-going
opportunities for continuing professional development
throughout a career with Gurit.
Culture
With over 20 years' experience in the design,
development and manufacture of composite solutions,
and a strong focus on continuous improvement
and quality excellence, we stay ahead of our
competitors with a team of driven, committed,
and talented individuals. The culture of the
Gurit team inspires both technical ingenuity
and passion in the work that we do. So with
an interest in composite engineering and technology,
and a desire to progress in a challenging and
responsive environment, Gurit’s team ethos
will provide you with a creative work surrounding
that is supported and encouraged, allowing initiative,
ideas, and ownership of projects, to thrive
and develop.
Community
The success of Gurit is dependant upon many
factors, not only desirable products and a committed
workforce, but also the support of the local
community. Gurit strongly believes in excellence
in all our activities which is why since June
2001 we have invited members of the local community
to demonstrate their outstanding achievements
in sports, the arts or music, and give them
the chance to receive a one-off bursary to contribute
toward continued success. To reinforce this,
in 2004 Gurit was acknowledged at the Isle of
Wight Chamber of Commerce Awards where we won
the ‘Investment in the Community’
category.
Diversity & Equal Opportunity
Both the clients we work with and people in
the current team are special. We are all from
different walks of life which is what helps
to create the diverse culture that we have,
encouraging individuality and motivation, allowing
us all to strive toward continuous improvement.
We are fully committed to equal opportunity,
not only for applicants during the recruitment
procedure, but also for all employees. Knowledge
and raising awareness is vital. Ensuring that
the team is aware of business objectives allows
for us all to move forward together in the same
direction, and helps to provide employees with
the knowledge required to truly feel an important
and valued part of the company.
Worklife Balance
The Isle of Wight has approximately 133,000
permanent residents, and though that makes us
relatively small in size, we certainly make
up for it with things to do! We have 13 award
winning beaches, of which 3 (Ryde, Sandown &
Shanklin) are blue flag winners, and plenty
of other attractions that will appeal.
From historic buildings and castles, to the
cinema & theatre, there is also an abundance
of sporting activities from clay-target shooting
to the Wight Air Extreme Sports Festival which
includes Racing, Surfing, Wave-sailing, Slalom
Windsurfing, Kite-surfing in the line-up of
water based extreme sports, whilst dry land
activities include Skate, BMX, Inline, Mountain
Boarding and Mountain Biking.
The Isle of Wight is also host to one of the
most famous sailing events in the world: Skandia
Cowes Week. More recently, the Island’s
profile has been raised as host to musical events
such as the Bestival; a three-day gig previously
packed out with famous names such as Basement
Jaxx and Fatboy Slim, and also the famous Isle
of Wight Festival. This is a huge event that
has attracted acts such as REM, David Bowie,
Travis, Faithless, Snow Patrol, Embrace, Coldplay,
Foo Fighters, Prodigy, Starsailor, Feeder and
Bryan Adams.
